Asthma that is caused or worsened by exercise or exertion of energy is one of the 3 main types of asthma. Asthma induced by exercise has a tendency to get worse in cold temperatures and dry weather.
The second type of asthma is tied to the workplace environment and the chemicals or irritants that are found there. It could also be tied to vapors or chemicals from uniforms/clothing, or tools used in the workplace. Irritation is not caused by natural allergens.
The third and most common type of asthma is allergy-induced, and is a very most common form of asthma, and is the form of asthma most are familiar with. It is a very treatable form of asthma, because asthma doctors can treat the allergies themselves to relieve the symptoms of asthma.
Allergy-Induced Asthma is not treated-best with medications and inhalers. Rather, medications are costly with pills and inhalers that can range from $300 to $1,200 a month. But in spite of their high price, these medications don’t solve the asthma problem. They merely treat the symptoms and are often only partially effective at that. Furthermore, asthma medications can have harmful side effects such as tremors, dizziness, nervousness and steroid-related effects.
Fortunately, allergy-induced asthma sufferers can find relieve in the form of allergy shots and drops (to treat the root cause of asthma symptoms. Since the majority of asthma has its root in allergy, proper allergy treatment can often control or eliminate the lung disease. Allergy treatment can be achieved through immunotherapy wherein the body is exposed to gradually increasing amounts of the most common allergens (i.e. pollens, pet dander, etc.) until it learns to tolerate them comfortably. Extracts of the allergens are mixed into a saline solution and administered through allergy shots or, more conveniently, through under-the-tongue allergy drops.
